New Purpose-Built Student Housing Near Simon Fraser University in Burnaby Focuses on Stability and Convenience

BURNABY, BC — MAY 27, 2026 — A new generation of student housing has arrived on Burnaby Mountain near Simon Fraser University (SFU), offering students a more reliable, connected and predictable way to live while studying.

The Student Housing Burnaby (SH Burnaby) platform includes Koto and Cornerstone, modern, all-inclusive, fully furnished housing designed specifically for students.

As demand for student housing continues to grow, many students still rely on traditional rentals that were not designed for student life, increasing interest in purpose-built options.

Student housing designed specifically for students gives them something they have not consistently had in Canada, bringing together safety, community, and predictability in a way traditional rentals do not.

Students are also looking for greater certainty and simplicity when it comes to housing. At SH Burnaby properties, all-inclusive living, professionally managed buildings and flexible lease options are designed to make day-to-day life easier and more predictable.

“For many students, housing has been one of the most stressful parts of starting school. We’re focused on making that experience simpler and more supportive, so students can settle in quickly and focus on what matters most,” said Karin Doherty, Media Relations, SH Burnaby.

Fully Furnished, All-Inclusive Student Living

Each new private bedroom includes a double bed with storage and a desk. Shared living areas are furnished and include a television. All units include a dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave and additional storage, while most layouts also include in-suite laundry. Furniture and utilities and Wi-Fi are included in rent.

Student-Focused Amenities

Residents have access to a range of shared amenities, which may include:

  • Outdoor social terrace with surrounding views

  • Social lounges and gathering spaces

  • Furnished study spaces for individual and group work

  • Fitness centre with cardio equipment, free weights and strength machines

  • Secure lobby with smart parcel lockers

Amenities vary by property.

SH Burnaby also provides an optional roommate pairing service and on-site staff who organize community programming and events throughout the academic year.

Live in the Heart of Burnaby Mountain

Koto and Cornerstone are located on Burnaby Mountain, just a short walk from the Simon Fraser University campus, with convenient access to cafés, restaurants, groceries, transit, and local services.

Leasing Now Open for September 2026

Leasing centres for Koto and Cornerstone are now open for tours and accepting applications for September 2026 move-ins, with early move-in opportunities available.
